Quantum index for mineral production data is calculated using the following Laspayer’s formula.
Where is the production of current (month, quarter and year) and base (month, quarter and year) respectively. W is weight which is derived from value addition. This value addition has been taken from Census of Mining and Quarrying Industries (CMQI). Quantum Index is calculated using production of major mineral ( Coal, Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Limestone)
The following census are conducted by EM section from time to time under the change of base of national accounts (CBNA) project of National Accounts.
This is the main census of mining sector and is carried out by the EM PBS since long. The census will cover all minerals produced in the country, both mining and quarrying which includes underground mining and surface mining. The main objectives of the census would be to compute Gross Value Addition (GVA), Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) and employment etc.
This census will cover crushing plants which are engaged in crushing of stones. The output of these plants is Bajri and Chips. Both products are used in construction sector. The main objectives of the census would be to compute Gross Value Addition (GVA), Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF), employment and production of various sizes of Bajri and Chips.
This small scale census will cover around fifty companies. These companies provide services to oil and gas main operators. Objectives of the census would be to compute Gross value Addition (GVA) and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF).
LNG/RLNG are new entrants to Pakistan economy. However, CNG stations are spread all over the country. This census will capture share of CNG/LNG sector in the GDP. Objectives of census would be to compute Gross value Addition (GVA) and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF).
Electricity is considered to be life line of an economy as it is pivotal for industrial development that ultimately contributes to the socio-economic development of a country. Pakistan electricity market is evolved through different era and private sector entered in market in 1985. WAPDA is still a big player of this market. However, electricity generated by private sector from thermal and alternate energy sources eroded its monopoly over the time.
The electricity sector of Pakistan is managed by both private and public sectors. Electricity is generated from various sources in the country. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has been collecting electricity generation data on monthly basis from focal agencies and from establishments engaged in generation of electricity such as Nuclear, Hydel, Thermal and Alternate Energy Sources (Wind, Solar etc.)

This report is an effort to understand the trends of this sector. This report will also provide data series from 2006-07 to 2020-21
This report is the twenty-sixth in the series compiled by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The first census report was brought out for the year 1962-63. This report presents data for the year 2003-04 (July-June) at national and provincial levels.
The census covered all public and private sector electricity establishments engaged in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity whether Hydel, Thermal or Nuclear during the year 2003-04.
Objectives
The main objective of the census is to derive value addition of electricity sub-sector in the national economy. The census aims at collecting information on fixed assets, installed capacity by type of plants, electricity generated, electricity consumption and number of consumers by sectors, industrial cost, gross value of production, value added, electricity consumed in auxiliaries.
Data Collection
The census of electricity establishments is conducted through mail. Census questionnaires (Annexure-I) were dispatched to all the 50 electricity establishments (public & private). The frame of electricity establishments was obtained from the Ministry of Water & Power. As a result of hectic efforts and vigorous follow up, response from all the 41 functioning electricity establishments (Annexure-II) was obtained.
The programme of Census of Mining & Quarrying Industries (CMQI) was initiated in 1962-63. So far 22 reports have been published. The present report is the 23rd of the series and covers mining establishments including those holding leases/licenses for crude oil, natural gas, coal and other minerals in all the provinces of Pakistan. This report presents data for all minerals at national and provincial levels.
The CMQI 2004-05 covered establishments engaged in mining and quarrying activities relating to extraction of minerals and fossil fuels whether solid, liquid or gas, both in the private and public sectors in all the provinces and federal capital Islamabad has been included in Punjab for the statistical purpose.
INTRODUCTION
Census of Mining & Quarrying Industries (CMQI) has been conducted since 1962-63. So far 23 reports have been published. The present report is the 2 4th one in the series and covers mining establishments including those holding leases/licenses for crude oil, natural gas, coal and other minerals in all the provinces of Pakistan. CMQI 2005 -06 has been carried out as part of initiative for rebasing of National Accounts from 1999-2000 to 2005-06. Mining in Pakistan has considerable potential but its contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was only 3% in 2005-06 at current prices. Mining operations require intensive scouring about potential sites, considerable capital, advanced skills and incurrence of high risks before an y stage of profitability can be reached. The mineral projects which are at various stages of implementation are listed in Table 4.19. ….
SCOPE & COVERAGE
The main objective of the CMQI is to cover mining and quarrying activities in terms of output, intermediate consumption, gross value added, employment size and employment cost and gross fix ed capital formation. The CMQI 2005-06 covers establishments engaged in mining and quarrying activities relating to extraction of minerals and fossil fuels whether solid, liquid or gas, both in the private and public sectors in all the provinces while federal capital Islamabad has …..
Main Objectives
1. The main objective of the CMQI is to commensurate mining and quarrying activities in terms of gross output, gross value added, employment and employment cost.

Definition : Consumer price index (CPI) measures the change over time in the prices of goods and services for consumption by households. The main purpose of the CPI with a base year of 2003 is; is to calculate the inflation rate by measuring the change in the prices of goods and services subject to consumption in the market. For this purpose, all final monetary consumption expenditures of households, foreign visitors and corporate population in the country are taken into account. This concept excludes the production of households for their own consumption from consumption expenditures and the relative rents valid for households.
Classifications: Individual Consumption Classification by Purpose (COICOP) was used in determining the weights and calculating the index, and these expenditures were grouped under 12 main groups and 43 subgroups. 404 items are included in the index.
International and regional guidance: There is no significant difference between Turkey’s methodology and the relevant international and regional standards set out in EUROSTAT.
Source of weights: Household Budget Survey conducted with approximately 15 000 households (3 years total 45 000) from all socio-economic groups annually, institutional population survey, tourism survey for the expenditures of foreign nationals in Turkey and expenditure and turnover information obtained from administrative records. It is calculated by expanding the National Accounts Household Final Consumption Expenditure data with the change rates.
For seasonal products, a constant weight approach is used.
The period to which the current weights belong is: December of the year (t-1).
In the CPI with a base year of 2003 = 100, all final monetary consumption expenditures made for the purpose of consuming goods and services domestically are taken as basis. In the index, prices are compiled from a total of 228 districts, including all 81 provincial centers. Within the scope of CPI, 564 710 prices from 27 411 workplaces are compiled monthly and 5 246 tenants are followed within the scope of the index. The number of workplaces and prices may vary throughout the year depending on the seasonal structure.
Population coverage: Population coverage of the index; It is determined as the total population living in Turkey, without any discrimination based on income groups or geographical regions.
Geographic coverage: All domestic final monetary consumption expenditures of households, foreign visitors and corporate population were taken into account.
FPrice coverage: The price coverage of the index is determined as purchase prices. Prices are determined as cash payments including taxes, and installment sales or negotiated prices are not taken into account.
