The project has been designed to update the rural area frame, capture rapid expansion in the town closure to rural areas, increase of commercial activities in the rural areas, changes taking place in rural community due to rural-urban migration, formation of new Districts/Tehsils/Town which causes change in the boundary description of respective administrative units. Under the project, manual and digitized Mauza maps would be prepared and placed on the website. These maps would provide enumerators accurate Mauza list of hamlets/settlements and Enumeration Block boundaries, at the time of field operation of Population & Housing Census and of Sample Surveys for collection of reliable, comprehensive and user-friendly data/information for the public, private, national and international organizations. The updating of Rural Area Frame helps to shift from list frame to area sample frame. Since PBS is responsible for collection, compilation and dissemination of socio-economic, demographic and agricultural data for the country thorough censuses and surveys.

The Overall development objective of the scheme is to change the current base year (2005-06) to the recent year (2015-16) of the National Accounts of Pakistan by implementing the System of National Accounts 2008. It will provide reliable and authentic data on macro-economic indicators like GDP and GFCF. Furthermore, the base of price statistics will also be changed from 2007-08 to 2015-16.
