The 7th Population and Housing Census was the first “Digital Census” in the history of Pakistan, conducted under the vision of “Digital Pakistan.” It was not only able to provide timely data for policy planning but also enabled real-time monitoring to ensure the provision of quality data. The tablet-based census served as a roadmap for future censuses and was designed to be acceptable to all stakeholders. Furthermore, through the involvement of all stakeholders throughout the census process, the first digital census was able to address the issues faced during the 6th Population and Housing Census and helped increase the acceptance of the census results in line with international standards. However, the digitized tablet-based census was a challenging task, but PBS strived to achieve the target through prudent planning and efficient management.
